Let me tell you, it has been one CRAZY week around here. My mom flew in last Wednesday for a visit which we are so happy about. On Thursday and Friday Matthew ran a fever and started being very, very irritable. He basically has cried almost nonstop from Thursday through yesterday. He quit sleeping at night (1 1/2 hours at a time is all we could get him to do) which was really hard since I'm pregnant and already exhausted. Since the fever had stopped Friday and this was crying and wanting noone but mommy was continuing I wasn't sure if he was just being rotten or if he had an ear infection or what. So Sunday morning I skip church and take him to the walk in clinic. They said other than a little cold in his nose he's fine. I'm thinking, "Great, he is just rotten then". Well Monday during one of his fits I was able to look in his mouth and the poor baby has little sores on his tongue and under his lip. No wonder he's crying. He can't eat, drink, or take a pacifier because it hurts! I feel really bad for the little guy. Last night he did manage to sleep all night (cried once at 4:00am but went back to sleep) so hopefully this is a sign that things are getting better. On top of this Sean is trying out for the majors so we've been juggling baseball practice, guitar lessons, church, school, work, and shopping for a car. I'm sure my mom thinks we are nuts because of how busy we are. Sometimes I think we get so wrapped up in little things that we don't take time out to appreciate what's really important, our loved ones. I'll leave that topic for another post though.

Silence isn't always a good thing

My monster...well that says it all doesn't it? I was on the phone having a conversation with my mom today when all of a sudden I realized it was awfully quiet in the house. Hmmm...where's Matthew? I was calling out and looking for him and surprise!! He found my scrapbook tote and managed to unzip it. Well of course the first thing he finds is my markers!! Doesn't he look pretty in pink and blue? Oh well, at least he didn't get the carpet or walls. If things like this are happening with him at 17 months I can't wait for the "terrible two's".

Oh, the LOVE of a challenge

Sean had his Valentine's Day party at school yesterday. He was quite surprised because not only was I there but daddy made an appearance as well. They frosted cupcakes and played some games. Here in the picture was a game where they had to stack the candy hearts. Whoever had the most in their stack when the time ran out won. He did win the first round but they had to do a tie breaker. He had the tallest stack in the second round too but it toppled over just before the time ran out. Bummer!! The winner had 3 hearts in their stack. I must agree with Danny though, the boy's got skill.

Why bother?

This is a question that I am asking myself today. Things never, ever seem to go as planned. You see I was all set to go on my first school field trip (with Sean of course). I've been so excited and have been working extra to make up for my being off today. I know I sound like the kid here but I was really excited. I've juggled around plans for Matthew to make sure he would be taken care. I wake up this morning and guesss what?? NO SCHOOL TODAY!!! Man am I disappointed. I made all these arrangements for nothing. We had some roads freeze overnight and the snow really started coming down this morning. It was pretty while it was coming down. So, now we are stuck in the house. Boring, boring, boring....

"Baby B" is 15 weeks and 1 day

I went in today for my normal routine monthly visit. My blood pressure was 140/80 when I got there (I always get nervous when they check it) but was down to 120/80 by the time I left. That is a normal reading for me. The visit went very well. I asked Dr. Scott if we could bring in the ultrasound machine so I could have a peek at our little bundle. I always get so overwhelmed with joy seeing my babies inside me. This was the first look I've had since my first appointment where I saw the little bean. The baby is growing so much! She/he was stretching and moving and putting their arms up over their head. And she was facing us the whole time. It's like she was saying "Hi mom! Look at me!" I almost cried. It was great. The pictures aren't the greatest but you can see a profile anyway. I go back on March 10th and we will find out then if it is a she or he.

Sean is NINE!

It's very hard to believe that my not so little boy is nine years old. It seems like yesterday that I was on my way to the hospital to have him. We are very proud of the young man that he is growing up to be. Okay, enough sappy stuff.

He wanted an Ipod for his birthday so he opted to have a small party rather than a big one so he could have the big gift. Andrea made him a Florida Gators cake in the shape of a skateboard. It's was so neat. Here are some pictures that were taken at his birthday sleepover. In attendance from left to right in the picture were Matthew, Steven, and Tyler.
